For this intriguing John Boorman’s science fiction movie, the music was not conventional either. David Munrow, one of the founders of the Early Music Consort of London, created a ethereal background music, with some electronic sound effects and Eugen Jochum conducted the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra performing the first half of the 2nd movement of “Beethoven’s 7th”. Munrow’s music in this movie can be heard sparingly throughout the movie.
I have selected some tracks from the DVD rip and the rest is similar with too many dialog overlapping (the music is barely heard in the background), and that is why the whole soundtrack is not included.
There is no soundtrack, official or otherwise, although a single was released promoting the film by a group Zzebra performing their version of Beethoven’s 7th but that is not the version heard in the movie.
The music is available in one zip file from this Multilink link:
Zardoz – selected tracks – 15 MB
Enjoy!

I never thought Connery was bad in this film. The film’s worst crime is pretentiousness and the more I see of it the more I forgive it. It’s beautiful to look at and, arty symbolism aside, I think it’s a worthwhile piece of science fiction. The society of the vortex dwellers may seem flakey but I kinda believe it as a cultural dead-end arising from an insular communal existance with a powerful AI as nanny.
And the score… That got me interested in Beethoven. I still think of Zardoz first when I hear the 7th.
The only recording I have from the film is a single track that seems to be the entire soundtrack ripped from DVD. This can only be an improvement.
Thanks!
I also ripped from the DVD but there were many tracks with very little music and a lot of dialogue. So I ripped all the tracks, tried to reduce/remove some dialog and selected from there.
I usually share the entire soundtrack, even with dialogue, but this time there were too much noise with the music, that is, a lot of guns, dialog and very faint music.
